Eco-Friendly

GOING GREEN

In the interest of  reducing the amount of waste we produce, my family  become passionate about recycling and buying products with less packaging.  Initially, we started with paper and cans but as we saw the impact of that change we adapted our lifestyles to eco-friendly.

My community doesn't offer curbside pick-up, but they have set up big bins to deposit your recyclables.  If we forget to take it for a while, it builds up, and it makes you think.. if I wasn't recycling that would all be going to a landfill. If my family can collect that much, think about twenty families, and then the whole town.

Another aspect to reducing your eco-footprint, is thinking about the waste that results from buying products with non-recyclable packaging.  We try to purchase items that are made from recycled products to in order to increase the demand for the recycled goods and make recycling more mainstream.

One of the benefits of recycling is garbage day is easier. We no longer have a full bag each week,.. usually we put out every third garbage pickup.

The whole family got on board and we did it as a family, even playing games with it. We also started composting in the back corner of our yard. so easy, no food waste in the garbage, and plants love getting the composted nutrient rich soil.

If you doone thing for the environment  or earth every day, over a year it would be 365 positive changes.  It takes some work on our part, and like Kermit the Frog says "..It's not easy being green" but it feels good to be doing our part for our planet.
